Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act Project

The ReNewed HOPE Plans of Safe Care (POSC) Program—funded through the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA)—is launching in Coweta, Meriwether, and Troup counties with support from the Division of Family & Children Services (DFCS). This initiative focuses on improving outcomes for pregnant and postpartum women and infants affected by prenatal substance exposure by strengthening assessment, care coordination, and family supports. ReNewed HOPE will lead on-the-ground implementation of POSC activities, helping families navigate resources and ensuring infants receive safe, stable environments from birth forward.

To advance this work, the Georgia Health Policy Center (GHPC) will provide comprehensive technical assistance along with data collection and evaluation support to ensure high-quality implementation and measurable impact. The GHPC team will help monitor program effectiveness, enhance care coordination processes, and build stronger community systems for maternal health and child well-being. Together, ReNewed HOPE and GHPC aim to strengthen Georgia’s child protection system and expand support for families experiencing substance use challenges during pregnancy and early infancy.
